1977
In 1977 things were a little rowdier. We were fully on Smokey and the Bandit vibes. You have to get that Coors across the state line before Buford T. Justice caught up with you. Is this why I’m so picky with beer? We saw Smokey jump a car and drive really fast and that seemed like fun. Being another 8 years from being able to drive a Trans Am, the best we could do was getting rowdy on our bikes.
Sealant
With today’s wide selection of products, many things can happen to a tubeless setup. If a tire had been changed on a rim the tape may have moved. Sealant is always trying to seal holes in your system, so if you see sealant by your spokes, or valve either the valve seal or tape may need attention.
Frequency
In the world of wheel building the frequency of the tensions of the spoke vary depending on the wheel components. The tension will affect the note that resounds when the spoke is genly tapped with the handle of a small screwdriver. You can use a tire lever, a pencil, or stale bread stick for different tones.
Modify your bike for happiness
Why mullet, why over fork? Because you can. In the days of full rigid, I made sure my bike had a 50 tooth outer ring so I could go as fast as possible. Similar to over forking, it made the bike do something it wasn’t really designed for. Bikes let you do unreasonable stuff like that. I almost won a race ish thing in Fruita with a 20” wheel on a 700c bike (to fit the steel drum) and had a great time. My sunglasses fell off and I had to drop out.
